Bryan McCabe joined the Toronto Maple Leafs on October 2nd, 2000 after being acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks for Alexander Karpovtsev and a 2001 4th round pick (Vladimir Gusev). Before being traded to the Leafs, McCabe was producing around 25 points per season which is very similar to Morgan Rielly, who was drafted by Toronto 5th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Similarity #1: Slow Start but a lot of Promise
McCabe entered the NHL during the 1995-96 season, producing 23 points (7 goals and 16 assists) in 82 games.
