To say that the response to the trade between the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs was tepid would be the understatement of the year.
Some fans saw the big, right-handed, former first round pick with the name-brand recognition and were excited.
Others looked at the actual measured performance of Ceci throughout his NHL career and were much less enthusiastic.
Ceci is 25, an age at which players do not usually improve. His reputation is based on his pedigree and not his to-date performance. Add in the cap hit of $4.5 million, which was more than the beloved Jake Gadiner signed for, and you can understand why the majority of Leafs nation isn’t exactly pumped about this player joining the team.
