The Toronto Furies have signed free agent forward Shiann Darkangelo, most recently of the CWHL’s Kunlun Red Star.
Darkangelo was a third-round pick for the Kunlun Red Star in the 2017 CWHL draft. She qualifies as a CWHL free agent already because the sport ambassador contracts with the Chinese teams are only one year, rather than the standard two-year North American contracts. She’s an excellent, and rather unexpected, pickup by Toronto Furies GM Sami Jo Small.
A gold medalist for Team USA at the 2016 World Championships, Darkangelo played two years in the NWHL and won an Isobel Cup with the Buffalo Beauts in 2017.
