The Toronto Maple Leafs have a long storied history spanning over 100 years. Many greats have worn their blue and white jerseys and some of the greatest Leafs played during the 1970’s.
Despite having these legends, the 1970’s were the start of the Maple Leafs Stanley Cup draught after winning Stanley Cups in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1967.
The best Leafs team of the 1970’s is definitely the 1977-78 team. They finished the regular season with 92 points (5th in the NHL, 3rd in the Adams Division) and made it to the semi-finals during the NHL playoffs that season before getting swept 4-0 to the eventual Stanley Cup champion, Montreal Canadiens.
