This year has been a successful one for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Auston Matthews was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy for his spectacular play in his rookie year. In Matthews’ rookie season, he finished third in the league with 40 goals. He scored more goals then fellow rookie, Winnipeg Jets’ Patrik Laine. Matthews also tallied 29 assists and 21 of his points came on the Toronto Maple Leafs’ stellar power-play.
In addition, the Toronto Maple Leafs returned to the postseason for the first time since the 2012-2013 season. Unfortunately for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals out-played them in a six game series.
