Since 2015, the Toronto Maple Leafs have brought in seven free agents from Europe. This ranges from adding prospects like Nikita Soshnikov to adding NHL ready talent such as Nikita Zaitsev.
Each of the past three springs, the Leafs have brought in at least one free agent from a European team.
The ball has already started to roll this year, as two candidates for the Leafs in Oula Palve (Pittsburgh) and Joel Kellman (San Jose) have already been signed.
European free agency is especially important to the Toronto Maple Leafs this time around as the impending cap crunch draws ever closer.
