While the Leafs kept chipping at the Senators lead, they ended up losing in Ottawa by a 6-3 score.
In the end, the Leafs clearly had a rough time clearing their own zone. Through the first couple periods, Ottawa controlled much of the play.
Matthews, Nylander and vanRiemsdyk each scored for the blue and white. Nylander and Matthews each had an assist, as well. Andersen made 29 saves in the Toronto end, while Anderson stopped 28 for Ottawa.
The Leafs face Los Angeles Monday evening at the ACC.
