Mike Babcock told News Talk 650 CKOM this morning that Andersen will be relieved of his duties early if he is too busy in the net based on the shot count — extra precaution to avoid reinjury in his first game back following the layoff. Andersen sustained an upper-body injury in an Olympic qualifying game for Team Denmark on September 2.
With Tyler Bozak and Nazem Kadri both sitting, Babcock also told CKOM that William Nylander will shift to center for tonight’s game, but clarified that he will be a winger to start the regular season. Auston Matthews will also line up down the middle in his second preseason appearance, while Byron Froese will likely make his 2016 preseason debut at center ice.
