Parenteau, 32, has been an interesting player throughout his career. He was drafted 264th overall (9th round) way back in 2002, but never broke the NHL full time until 2009-10 (with the Rangers). He joined the Islanders as a free agent in 2011, and broke out big time on John Tavares’ wing, scoring 53 and 67 points in 2010-11 and 2011-12.
He proved it was no flash in the pan after signing with Colorado and putting together a good half season, posting 43 points in 48 games in 2013-14. He put up 33 points in 55 games in 2013-14 before getting traded to the Habs in exchange for a fifth round pick and Daniel Briere.
