The National Hockey League faces a potential financial dilemma even if they are able to complete the 2019-20 season this summer. With projected losses of over $1 Billion, that potentially could see a significant increase in escrow for 2020-21. The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun and Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman have indicated that this situation may provide the impetus to the league and the NHL Player’s Association to work together on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement to provide a roadmap for financial stability over the next decade.
