The game was Marner’s second back with the Knights after his first taste of NHL training camp and preseason. Marner had a decent game and showed flashes of offensive dominance, but all in all his game came across as a little underwhelming. Now, admittedly, it’s just one game against a very good team and there are a number of things from his performance to be encouraged about, but there are also a few in need of improvement.
Marner still looks small out there — very small. Size is not the be all and end all, and height is becoming ever-more irrelevant in the game, but when talking size a good talent evaluator is talking mostly about strength.
