Mitch Marner leads the NHL in rookie scoring, assists

Mitch Marner isn’t scoring at the rate of, say, Patrik Laine. Hell, he’s not even scoring at the rate of Auston Matthews. He only has seven goals to his name; isn’t that such a disappointment for a rookie who has played 21 games?

He has 18 points to his name, too: the most, alongside Laine, any rookie has so far this season. Eleven of those points are assists, the most any rookie has put up so far this season, alongside two defencemen, Brady Skjei and Zach Werenski. (That’s also tied for 28th in assists throughout the entire NHL.
