Maple Leafs recall Leipsic on emergency basis

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Thursday that the team has recalled forward Brendan Leipsic from the Toronto Marlies (AHL) on an emergency basis. Leipsic replaces forward Brad Boyes, who is out with an upper body injury.

Leipsic, 21, has scored one goal and registered one assist in four games with the Maple Leafs this season. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native has also collected 37 points (16 goals, 21 assists) in 50 games with the Marlies. Leipsic was selected by the Nashville Predators in the third round (89th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft before being traded to Toronto on February 15, 2015.
