The Toronto Maple Leafs first round series with the Montreal Canadiens started in the worst possible way. Captain John Tavares suffered a serious injury in the first period following a collision with Corey Perry.
William Nylander scored the team’s first goal of the playoffs, but they eventually lost 2-1 on a first period goal from Josh Anderson and a shorthanded goal from Paul Byron. Jack Campbell played well, but ultimately lost the game stopping 28 of 30 shots.

The game started with a bit of a bang, Josh Anderson got around the defense on a change for a breakaway, but Campbell was up to the task.
