The Maple Leafs added four members to Legends Row in keeping with the team’s tradition of honouring its most legendary players.
Statues of Charlie Conacher, Red Kelly, Frank Mahovlich and Wendel Clark were unveiled before a modest, appreciative gathering outside the Air Canada Centre on Thursday night.
“The statue looks great, I think he took one of my chins off,” Clark said with a laugh as he marveled at the bronze likeness of himself, sculpted by Illinois native Erik Blome. “It’s a huge honour. We’re really representing different eras of hockey.”
The late Conacher – the right winger of the Leafs’ famed Kid Line – led the Leafs in goal scoring five times between 1930-31 and 1935-36.
