The Leafs made their final series of cuts on Sunday, assigning 11 players to the Marlies of the American Hockey League while placing five skaters on waivers for the purpose of reassignment. Lamoriello and coach Mike Babcock held closed-door meetings during which they arrived at their decisions. The duo was on the same page in terms of shaping the Leafs’ future: don’t rush the young prospects.
As a result, youngsters William Nylander, Connor Brown and Kasperi Kapanen were among those sent to Ricoh Coliseum, a short drive from Air Canada Centre.
