In surrendering a season-high six goals, Toronto’s defence was plagued with turnovers and odd-man rushes against.
Drew Stafford had a pair of first period tallies for Winnipeg. Mark Scheifele and Andrew Ladd scored 78 seconds apart in the final frame to break the game wide open. Bryan Little and Anthony Peluso rounded out the Jets’ scoring.
Michael Grabner was the only Leaf to get on the scorebaoard, netting his first goal of the year, playing in his 23rd game.
