In the Leafs‘ case, Connor Carrick, Josh Leivo and Garret Sparks will have until 5 p.m. to accept the qualifying offer extended to them a few weeks ago. If they choose to let the offer expire, they will remain RFAs under team control but will have to renegotiate their contract with the Leafs.
The same goes for Peter Holland, Martin Marincin and Frank Corrado, but those three have opted for salary arbitration. They could, of course, settle on contracts before their arbitration hearings, but opting for arbitration means none of those three have the intention of accepting their qualifying offers.
