In preparation for Saturday’s game against Montreal, the Maple Leafs held their morning game-day skate at Air Canada Centre under very sombre circumstances.
“As the calls were coming in, and they were talking about all the kids they have coached over the years that were playing on that team … I can’t imagine being a parent, or the wife, or the kids at home, going through something like this,” Saskatchewan native Mike Babcock said to reporters.
“Our hearts … the hockey world is an unbelievable world. You can’t make up for loss, you just can’t. It’s gotta rip the heart out of your chest.
