The win by Toronto’s most loathed historic rival overshadowed a two-goal effort from Auston Matthews. The Leafs’ Calder Trophy contender became the third rookie to reach the 30-goal plateau in franchise history, after Wendel Clark (1985-86) and Daniel Marois (1988-89).
