The Leafs suffered their first regulation loss of the season, a 3-2 defeat to the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues on Monday night. Alex Pietrangelo’s third period goal held up as the game-winner.
The Good
- Trailing 1-0, the Leafs got on the scoreboard when Jason Spezza, showing deft hand-eye coordination, batted the puck out of midair, passing it off to Frederik Gauthier in the crease who scored his second goal of the year.
- Just 24 seconds later, William Nylander finished off highlight reel scoring play on a give-and-go off the rush with Andreas Johnsson and Cody Ceci.
