A late goal by Ottawa’s Tom Pyatt held up as the game-winner in the Senators’ 4-3 victory over the Leafs on Wednesday night at Air Canada Centre.
The regulation loss was a disappointing one for the Leafs, who had rallied from earlier two-goal and one-goal deficits to even the score.
Pyatt’s goal was scored on an odd-man rush created when Leafs defender Morgan Rielly made an ill-advised pinch. The error overshadowed what had otherwise been a spectacular outing for Rielly. In 26:15 of ice time, Rielly registered a goal on six shots.
“I felt good. When you’re playing from behind you try to play catch up and then it’s unfortunate when you give one back,” Rielly said.
