The Maple Leafs made a significant trade to upgrade their blue line, acquiring defenceman Jake Muzzin from the Los Angeles Kings for forward Carl Grundstrom, the rights to defenceman prospect Sean Durzi, and Toronto’s first-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
Muzzin, 29, has collected 21 points in 50 games played in 2018-19. Over his career Muzzin has registered 51 goals and 293 points in 496 NHL games. He has a Stanley Cup ring from the Kings’ victory in 2013-14.
Internationally Muzzin has won gold medals with Canada at the 2015 World Championship, and also at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, the latter victory on a team led by Leafs coach Mike Babcock.
