Auston Matthews scored twice – including a highlight reel second period goal – to help lift the Leafs to a 5-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. It was Toronto’s fourth victory in its past five games.
The Good:
- Frederik Gauthier matched a career best by scoring his fourth goal of the year, opening the scoring.
- The Leafs dominated play in the first period, outshooting the Sabres 11-5. Only the stellar play of goalie Linus Ullmark prevented the score from being higher.
Leafs puck control was quite something there for three or four shifts.
