For the second time in three Saturday nights, the Leafs fell to the league’s worst team – the Ottawa Senators – at Canadian Tire Centre. Toronto came out on the losing end of a 4-2 decision, missing a chance to clinch a playoff berth, and reducing Boston’s magic number to lock up home-ice advantage in the playoffs to three points.
The Good
- Auston Matthews connected on the power play for his 37th goal of the season.
- 27 seconds after Matthews’s goal, Connor Brown finished off a 2-on-1 with Ron Hainsey to tie the score at 2-2 in the third period, his eighth goal of the year.
