Lamoriello continues wheeling and dealing

Toronto’s rebuild and stockpiling of draft picks continued on Monday as the Leafs completed a trade with the San Jose Sharks, under the direction of general manager Lou Lamoriello. Defenceman Roman Polak and forward Nick Spaling were dealt to San Jose for the Sharks’ second-round picks in both 2017 and 2018.

The Leafs also acquired forward Raffi Torres in the trade. Torres was loaned to the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League.

The transaction comes one day after the Leafs traded Shawn Matthias to the Colorado Avalanche for Colin Wilson and a fourth-round pick in 2016.
