The Toronto Maple Leafs have lost their first player of the off-season. Well, he’s at least as good as gone.
Joakim Lindstrom has decided to sign with SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL. His contract with the Leafs ends on July 1 so they technically retain his NHL rights until then.
Lindstrom was acquired by the Leafs at the Trade Deadline in the Olli Jokinen trade. He had signed a one-year deal with the St. Louis Blues last May. Previous to that he had played three seasons with Skelleftea AIK of the Swedish Hockey League.
