1. This was not a must-win — there is no such thing in game #23 of 82 — but it was a “really should win” type of scenario for the Leafs. The Leafs were well rested, and Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies were back in the lineup. The Lightning were without Nikita Kucherov (as well as noted Leaf killer Nick Paul) and in a back-to-back after they rode their top forwards hard the day before on the road (Kucherov missed a full period in Nashville, and Cirelli also missed time, so Point, Guentzel, and Hagel played over 22 minutes each.
