It didn’t take long for Hockey East to have its first covid-19 postponement; the season opener on Friday between Boston College and the University of New Hampshire was postponed due to an inconclusive test. There was some hope that they’d play Saturday’s game as scheduled, but then today after a second test, “inconclusive” became “positive” and the whole weekend series was postponed.

If this is any indication of how the rest of the NCAA season is going to go—and there’s no reason to believe it isn’t, considering the difficulty various US universities have had controlling outbreaks in situations that don’t involve heavy breathing and frequent body contact—the Ivy League’s decision to cancel their season is only looking better.
