The 6-foot, 201 pound defender made an impact during his first season as a junior player in the CHL. He led all WHL rookies in scoring with a 15 goal, 61 point season from the back end. He followed that up with two goals and 13 points in 19 playoff games. For his efforts, he earned a WHL (East) First All-Star Team selection at season's end.
Provorov was also a member of Russia's silver medal winning team at the 2015 World Juniors. He was the youngest player on the squad and played a regular shift despite being on the fourth Russian pairing.
