Toronto Maple Leafs phenomenal forward, Auston Matthews, broke another record on Wednesday, January 13th for the longest away game goal streak in Toronto Maple Leafs history scoring in nine consecutive away game.
Three players had scored in eight consecutive away games as members of the Toronto Maple Leafs: Babe Dye in 1921, Frank Mahovlich in 1961 and Daniel Marois in 1989.
It’s just another record to add to the pile of NHL and Toronto Maple Leafs records that Matthews has collected during these early stages of his NHL career.
Auston Matthews also has the NHL records for most goals scored in an NHL debut in the modern era, most goals by an American-born rookie, most consecutive games with a shot on goal to start a career and youngest player to record multiple points in each of his team’s first five games of a season.
