This is easily the most intriguing change to this year’s All-Star format: pitting 12 skaters against each other over a series of skills events, with $1 million on the line.
Matthews and Nylander will take part in four of the first six skills challenges, and if they earn enough points over their four events to place inside the top eight out of 12 competitors, they will take part in the next stage, the One-on-One challenge. The top six point earners after the One-on-One challenge will advance to the eighth and final round of the skills competition, the Obstacle Course, with an opportunity to win the $1 million prize.
