This year was a gruelling one for Toronto FC, whose players and staff spent much of it in the United States because of the pandemic, separated from their families. It didn’t end the way they wanted, either, ousted from the playoffs in the first round. But 2020 did have its moments. Here’s a look back at some of them:
The milestones
Reds fans didn’t get to see much of Ifunanyachi Achara, the 23-year-old Nigerian forward, between Major League Soccer’s hiatus and a season-ending tear in his left knee in July. But what they did see was impressive, particularly his MLS debut against New York City FC on March 7, which was also TFC’s home opener at BMO Field.
