Toronto FC is no stranger to having a most valuable player candidate.
Sebastian Giovinco nabbed the honour in 2015, after his first season in Major League Soccer ended with the club’s first trip to the playoffs. The striker made another push for the league’s top individual award the following year but fell short, as did midfielder Victor Vazquez despite an MVP-calibre performance in 2017.
This year, it’s midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo taking a run at the Landon Donovan trophy, and he’s building a solid case while leading the Reds to the top of the MLS standings.
