Toronto FC added a backup goalkeeper Monday in Quentin Westberg, who most recently played for AJ Auxerre in the French second tier.
Born in France to an American father and French mother, Westberg has played for the U.S. at the U-17, U-20 and U-23 levels.
The 32-year-old ‘keeper is expected to back up Alex Bono, with Caleb Patterson-Sewell also available. Clint Irwin, last year’s backup, is now back with the Colorado Rapids.
The six-foot-one 174-pounder has also played for Troyes AC, Evian Thonon Gaillard Football Club (now known as Thonon Evian Football Club), Luzenac AP and Tours in France and Sarpsborg 08 FF in Norway.
