Toront FC announced this morning, fairly out of the blue, that they've inked goalkeeper Quentin Westberg out of Auxerre in France's Ligue 2.
The 32-year-old goalie has spent much of his career in France (where he was born), playing long spells at Luzenac and Troyes. Westberg also represented the United States internationally at several youth levels, although he never won a senior cap.
Westberg developed in several French football academies, including both Paris Saint-Germain and Clairefontaine.
Most recently, he recorded seven clean sheets across his 20 appearances with Auxerre. Westberg is unlikely to start for TFC, but he will provide some very helpful backup experience for Alex Bono, alongside Caleb Patterson-Sewell.
