Toronto FC sends Joe Bendik to Orlando City for draft pick

Toronto FC has traded goalkeeper Joe Bendik to Orlando City SC for a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft.

Bendik started last season as Toronto’s No. 1 but could not win his job back from Chris Konopka after suffering a foot injury. The club decided not to pick up his contract option after the season.

The 26-year-old ’keeper opted out of the MLS re-entry draft, allowing Toronto to try to make a trade for him.

Bendik was originally acquired in a December 2012 trade with the Portland Timbers. In three seasons with Toronto, he made 73 MLS appearances with a record of 18-35-20.
