TORONTO, Canada—Major League Soccer revealed its latest Team of the Week following Week 16 action and it once again boasted a pair of Toronto FC players.
After scoring the game-winner in The Reds’ 1-0 win over the New England Revolution on Wednesday, striker Ayo Akinola found his name back among the week’s top performers for the third time this season. The Homegrown attacker’s goal was his team-leading eighth of the campaign as the 20 year old is leading MLS in goals per 90 and expected-goals per 90 this season.
Goalkeeper Alex Bono, meanwhile, also found his name on the MLS Team of the Week for the second time this season after making six saves and doing his part to force a missed penalty to post his third clean sheet in as many appearances.
