It may not be the biggest one of the year, but the first trophy Toronto FC can win this season will be on the line on Friday night when the Columbus Crew visit BMO Field for the finale to this year’s Trillium Cup series.
With both sides having claimed a 2-1 win in the first two games at MAPFRE Stadium, this match will be the decider. Toronto essentially need to avoid defeat to retain the trophy as the first tiebreaker is away goals, of which the Reds have three. In the event of a 3-3 draw, TFC would retain the trophy as its current holders but a 4-4 goal fest would send it back to Ohio.
