TFC captain’s injury leaves big boots to fill in midfield — Liam Fraser might be ready

Toronto FC coach Greg Vanney, looking to manage expectations, says it will take more than one player to replace injured captain Michael Bradley. But it seems clear Liam Fraser is next man up.

The 21-year-old from Toronto has played 19 games (16 starts) over the last two seasons, patiently waiting his turn in TFC’s crowded midfield. With Bradley slated to miss four months after ankle surgery, his time is now.

Last October, Fraser was candid about waiting in the wings. At the time, he had not started a game since July 20 in a 3-1 loss to Houston.
