Toronto FC was headed for a third championship game in four years against a familiar opponent: the Seattle Sounders, the only team the Reds have ever met in an MLS Cup final.
“Wild, wild,” TFC captain Michael Bradley told reporters in Atlanta when asked about the matchup after a 2-1 win over Atlanta United, last year’s champion. “The fact that it plays out Toronto-Seattle for the third time in four years should make for an interesting day.
