TORONTO, Canada—Jozy Altidore has picked up a slight injury at the U.S. men’s national team January camp, coach Gregg Berhalter told reporters Saturday afternoon.
But that wasn’t the real story.
Although Altidore has recovered from the injury and returned to training, the U.S. men’s national team coach says that with the transfer window looming, he won’t risk playing the TFC striker amid a potential move abroad.
“Unfortunately, he (Altidore) picked up an injury two weeks into camp,” said Berhalter. “He was in full training today, but with the transfer window looming, we didn’t want to take a chance.
