Red-hot Jonathan David nets brace for 1st place Lille in 2-0 win over FC Nantes

TORONTO, Canada—Jonathan David is heating up is on fire for Lille OSC.

The Canadian international scored two more goals Sunday afternoon in a 2-0 win over FC Nantes, helping Lille maintain their two-point lead atop Ligue 1. The brace makes it five goals in five games for the 21-year-old striker after scoring just twice in first 25 matches.

David opened the scoring on Sunday on the nine minute mark, doing his part in the build-up before capitalizing on a dreadful defending error with a confident right-footed finish.

The Ottawa native was fortunate more so than anything on his opener, but his second goal of the day in the 83rd minute to help seal the game for his side was nothing short of spectacular, showing off his versatility by providing a left-footed finish worthy of its sleek initial build up.
