Toronto FC extended their unbeaten streak to 18 matches on Friday night with a 1-0 victory against the Montreal Impact.
Leading up to the match, all eyes were on the players who were returning to play following league-wide protests against racial inequality and shooting of Jacob Blake by police. TFC and Montreal both came out sporting Black Lives Matter t-shirts, while both teams took a knee before kickoff.
When the game got underway, it didn’t get off to the best start for The Reds, as striker Patrick Mullins, who was handed a rare start by Greg Vanney, was forced to come off with an injury.
