Toronto FC was back to looking like the team that set an MLS record for points last season in a 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake at BMO Field. The Reds were dominant throughout the match and could easily have had more goals, especially with Nick Rimando denying an early Sebastian Giovinco penalty kick.
Toronto would be awarded another spot kick moments later, however, and this time it would be Jozy Altidore who stepped up to score the teams first regular season goal of 2018. Altidore doubled the reds lead before the halftime break and Tosaint Ricketts capped off the match with a tap in goal, his first of the season.
