Toronto FC made it official today that Spanish midfielder Ager Aketxe has been loaned to Cádiz CF, a club who play in the Spanish second division. The details of the loan have not been released.
After joining Toronto FC in the offseason from La Liga side Athletic Bilbao, Aketxe has appeared 14 times in all competitions for Toronto, recording a single assist. He was the club’s biggest offseason signing, making $1.3 million in guaranteed compensation.
“At this time, we feel it’s in the best interests of both parties to do this loan,” said Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko in a press release.
