No Italy recall for Giovinco because MLS ‘doesn’t matter much’

It does not look as if Sebastian Giovinco’s chances of playing for Italy will improve under new coach Giampiero Ventura.

Giovinco made only two substitute appearances - despite playing well in the minutes he was given - under Ventura’s predecessor Antonio Conte and was left out of the Azzurri’s squad for Euro 2016.

Conte, at least, paid lip service to the idea of calling up Giovinco if he felt his performances merited it but Ventura was far more blunt in his assessment when asked about the Toronto FC star’s absence from his latest squad.

“Giovinco is a different story,” he said according to ESPN.
