Toronto FC president Bill Manning wasn’t joking when he predicted significant roster changes this off-season.
Keeping track of the comings and goings at the club is a full-time job these days. Of the 28 players who travelled to Austin, Texas on Monday for the second part of TFC’s pre-season training camp, only 14 remain from last year’s team, which finished second last in Major League Soccer’s standings.
The writing was seemingly on the wall for some of that squad.
“I immediately got a sense when I got here that there were just guys in different places, guys that weren’t as committed to the club as they might have been earlier, guys that, in different moments, just hadn’t been committed to all the things you need to do to be part of a winning team,” new head coach and sporting director Bob Bradley said on Tuesday.
