Now that Toronto FC has its star in Lorenzo Insigne, the focus turns to players to complement him on the Major League Soccer club.
Team president Bill Manning said Saturday the club has "a number of irons in the fire” and that it may take until the summer transfer window for some players to join TFC.
One player who will not be around is striker Dom Dwyer, traded to FC Dallas on Monday with the third pick in Tuesday’s MLS SuperDraft. The Reds received $50,000 (U.S.) in 2022 general allocation money for the 31-year-old Dwyer, who salary will rise from $81,375 in 2021 to more than $300,000 this year, according to The Canadian Press.
