TORONTO, Canada—Canada Soccer announced today that defender Kadeisha Buchanan has been named the 2020 Canadian Player of the Year.
The world-class centre-back had a standout year with the national team, helping the women qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games, while also winning three trophies with her domestic club—French giants Olympique Lyonnais—including the UEFA Champions League.
“For Kadeisha to have played an integral part in her fourth UEFA Champions League speaks to one of her many accomplishments and contributions to both club and country in which she should be very proud,” said Bev Priestman, Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team Head Coach, in a press release.
